on June 25, 2015 at 11:31 amWhat I like best about mowing the lawn wasn’t one of the options: I like looking back and seeing how the lawn looks after I have finished mowing. Second-best, I suppose the satisfaction I receive from viewing mowing results probably does relieve some stress.

on June 25, 2015 at 11:44 amWhen I was a kid I mowed 7 lawns to pick up a little spending money. I enjoyed mowing and got a lot of satisfaction from looking at a freshly mowed and trimmed lawn. Today, at age 72, I cut my own grass and still enjoy doing it.

on June 25, 2015 at 2:30 pmI enjoy mowing and trimming my lawn. It’s good exercise and the end result is a professional looking lawn. A few of my neighbors have lawn services. Their end result is a cut lawn but unlike mine, they don’t bother with doing clean edging work along the sidewalk, trimming the hedges, and good clean straight lawn cuts. After mowing my side of the lawn I can still see where the lawn service “missed”. I’m not in for the money just to make my home look like someone really cares about the landscape. Being retired now, I need the exercise and a feeling of accomplishment.

on June 25, 2015 at 2:41 pmA good well maintained lawn tractor, sharp blades, dry grass and a cool evening are the things that help me enjoy the task of cutting 1/2 acre weekly. When the job is finished ( usually takes about 1 1/2 hours) I am able to feel good about how nice the place looks. Excellent “stress reliever.”

I would tell her that all I wanted to do once I retired was to buy a large property, build our home there a tractor with mower, and mow grass. I am now retired. I my home is on 5 acres of lawn, and pasture. My favorite pastime is to operate my John Deere, listen to music, sing, watch the bluebirds and swallows follow me catching insects, and love driving my tractor. I also like how the property looks after I am done! In Oregon we mow year round, rain or Sun. The only time I don’t mow is when it snows.

on June 25, 2015 at 4:58 pmI am 80+ and enjoy mowing with a push mower, using the edger around all the curbing and finally sweeping all the clippings from the drive and curbing first with the weed eater and then the broom and shovel to pick up all the clippings. Nothing I hate worst is those who blow all the clippings in the street and leave them there.

I have mowed for hire for over 30 years. Each spring I send an estimate and and explain the charges. Fuel is the biggest problem. The price this season has increased 84 cents.
I use 12 to 15 gallon a day.

plus the hedges and trees that borders the property. So, mowing the lawn is really the only time I am sitting down. I love my Family and I love my Mower.

Who could honestly say they love the misquito repellant they have to use or ducking for tree branches or mowing around the puddles or changing blades and sharpening blades? on June 26, 2015 at 5:46 pmBeing an engineer, I love to hear the motor purring as it should, the sizzle of the razor sharp blades slicing the grass, and most of all – using a modern mower that I have personally modified to actually cut grass at a reasonable speed. The US Gov. has restricted the blade tip speed on home used mowers such that they will not cut at an acceptable speed or quality of cut. I can be done – mine does.

I have a full set of VC160’s,a Victa 18 model 5,circa 1959, a 1976 Victa Supreme twin cylinder mower ( and two spare engines) along with several mid 60’s Cortina models, a 1972 Lancer 160, and a mid 80’s Power Torque model. These are all very well made Aussie mowers from an era that has sadly passed.
