On question # 2, who is going to put their head in the augers to clean them. But then again in this World you never know.

You never know what stupid can attempt. The only reason they put safety decals on something is because someone has attempted to do what they are warning you not to do.I work on commercial salt spreaders the newest warning is not to ride in the spreader.

I always blow with the wind across the drive. If that’s not possible I will point the chute to blow down so the wind doesn’t blow the snow all over. This works very well in tight spots like between cars with the chute forward and down.

Had a customer in one time, bought an Ariens to take to Miami. He was putting it on his charter boat and would shovel fish into the auger and it would chop them up and send the fragments overboard to chum for big game fish, said it worked well.

I feel I did pretty good on your quiz by living in Tucson all my life and never have touched or seen in life a snow blower.

Number 1 answers are incorrectly listed otherwise you are stating that you can use your head and foot to clear the auger. I guessed at 500 on number 7 hoping there were no more unintelligent people that own these machines out there. Fun activity though and informative.

Do not agree with question no. 1. If you lower skid shoes, that raises bar off ground, therfore removing less snow.

I agree with you Jeff. I have a single stage on the front of my John deere. But I found a better way yet, all of my family now have 4 wheel drive so we just drive through the snow.

I feel single stage blower would be better on a gravel driveway won’t throw the stones as far off the driveway as a two stage a maybe hurt somebody or break a window.

Agree with you completely. I have a long driveway covered with crushed limestone. Have sheared lots of pins when the stones get between the impeller and the chute. It also scores the impeller cylinder.A single stage doesn’t seem to have that problem. On my two stage, I drop the skids, contrary to the wording in question #1 and leave enough snow to create 1 inch snow pack so for the rest of the winter, all of the pebbles are imbedded within the packed snow. Then I can raise the skids dropping the blade without worry. Oh by the way, I’ve had MTD two stage blowers, all had filters. Keeps the fine snow from being sucked into the carb and icing it up when I’m done.

Ya that air filters question surprised me a bit I would not recomend buying a snowblower if it did not have an air filter

I lived in Hudson Valley NY for 30 years Thank god for the snow blower I moved to SW Florida 10 years ago and brought the snow blower with me as a joke or reminder of the winters in NY.
Last year I put it in my front lawn and some guy wanted to know what it was ? I told him it was a grapefruit cultivator
He offered $300 for it!!! I thought Hey why not it doesn’t here
Now I know why the call it FLO-RI-DUH!!!

Turner,Despite your vast knowledge { which after 45+ years of my own } ,I must dissagree w/ your answer to the que. about what type blower is best suited to gravel/stone surfaces. My 9 out of 10 corrects were ruined on my answer. The leading edge on 1 stage throwers is much less likely to lock up from catching a small stone or pebble [ being they are rubber] than the steel edge of the auger or impellar leading edges. Do you disagree & if so, why ? Respectfully,Keith Rudzik
