6 Essential Rules to Remember When You Mow Your Lawn
Posted August 6, 2015 by Jacks Small EnginesIf you want a good looking lawn, here are some essential rules for you to follow!
1) The 1/3 Rule
Never cut more than one third of the total length of the grass blade at a time. This will help reduce stress on the grass blade and keep the blade healthy and more resistant to diseases.
2) Don’t Mow Tall Grass
Don’t try to barrel in to tall grass to get it mowed, especially if it is taller than your mower deck, see how to mow tall grass.
3)Don’t Mow Wet Grass
Mowing wet grass will lead to clumps, mower stalls, and uneven grass blades. Just be patient and wait for your lawn to dry before cutting it.
4) Alternate Mowing Directions
Alternating which way you mow each time will prevent the grass blades from leaning a certain direction. This promotes a more even and straight cut.
5) Only Mow With Sharp Blades
Sharp blades are extremely important. Dull blades will damage your grass. Before you begin, always check to be sure you blades are not obviously dull or damaged.
6) Keep Your Mower Clean
Always clean your mower after every use. To keep your mower running properly, be sure to clear all of the grass clippings out from under the deck.
Follow these rules and your lawn will stay looking healthy throughout mowing season and it will make your job a lot easier!
