its been years since i worked on gas engines for a living. one of the things i ran into was 2 cycle engines, lawn mower, chain saw, outboard motor and such, was finding a lot of older engines had a problem of excessive air entering the crankcase thru the rubber seal. is this still a common problem ,or do newer engines have better seals around the crankshaft?
I am condidering opening a small shop to supplement my retirement and would appreciate info on whether the technology I learned 35-40 years ago is still relevant and what is a good source for technical advise.
    Thanks, john

I was given a small Poulan chainsaw. It was
not running so cleaned it, new plug, dump
old gas, put in canned premium 50.1 fuel.
Unit started in 5 pulls, purred like a kitten.
Test cuts were great. Cold re-starts in 2
pulls. Then, in the blink of an eye, no more
Starting? Plenty fire from plug gap & to
Head on pulls. Nothing even with starter
Fluid shots down carb. I’m thinking maybe
“Coil”? But, if coil was bad, wouldn’t that
Eliminate the spark on pulls? Allen Okla.
