According to Pure-gas.org, most fuel sold in Alaska does not contain ethanol. But not many people will head north to trade in their riding mower for a snowmobile, just to avoid using ethanol gas.
Here’s some more advice on finding ethanol-free gas:
- Access to ethanol-free gas relies on the availability from the refineries and distributors throughout the country. They should be able to tell you where to find a station.
- Some states do not require a “10% Ethanol” label to be placed on their pumps.
- Hardware and power equipment stores often carry pre-mixed ethanol-free gas in quarts for 2-cycle handheld equipment.
- If you want to get scientific, there are fuel test kits that can determine if your gas contains ethanol (alcohol).
